Our latest production Wind in the Willows and auditions are to be held on Sunday 9th October at 2.30pm (Children & Adults) and again on Thursday 13th October at 7pm (Adults only) at Shawbury Village Hall. These auditions are open to members and non-members.
Please note that rehearsals will be on Thursdays at 7pm & Sundays at 2.30pm
The performances will take place on Friday 16th, Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th December.
Shawbury Village Players are always pleased to welcome new members to the society, and if you feel that acting is not your thing, then there are plenty of other ways to get involved.
Based on the success of our previous quiz nights Shawbury Village Players have organised two further quiz nights. These will both be held at Shawbury Village Hall, firstly on Friday 30th September at 7.30pm and then again on Friday 28th October at 7:30pm.
These quizzes are open to members and non-members. Teams of up to 6 – no need to book. £3 per person entry fee.
Bring your own food and drink but coffee/tea will be available in the interval.
Help required in setting up the hall from 6.30pm on both nights.
Shawbury Village Players will be hosting social events open to everyone, not just members on the last friday of each month.

To mark 400 years since Shakespeare’s death, SVP will perform The Taming of the Shrew. This rough-and-tumble farce is full of action and bawdy humour, centring round the battle of the sexes. This is essentially a love story on the time honoured theme of boy meets girl, she rejects him and eventually succumbs!
Petruchio arrives in Padua in search of a wife and, on hearing of the beautiful but shrewish Katherina Minola, decides she fits the bill and sets about wooing her. Kate has other ideas and their encounters are full of impassioned exchanges, angry exchanges and even blows-until love conquers all.
As usual, a host of other characters form the sub plot-Bianca ,Kate’s younger sister is also beautiful but not shrewish and,as a result, has many suitors clambering for her hand. They are thwarted, though, by Kate’s family, who will not let Bianca marry until her elder sister is off their hands.
The play is full of slapstick humour and witty language and is a delightful mix of clever dialogue and rollicking good spirits.
