It is with great sadness that we report the sudden death of Roger Humphreys on Sunday 18th May.
Roger had been a stalwart of Shawbury Village players since 1980 just after the group first formed. His first production being Cinderella.
He will be fondly remembered in many ways, his zest for life, singing, painting skills and especially for his role of the Dame in many pantomimes over the years. Roger was one of the best ‘ad- libbers’ in the business and knew how ‘ to work’ an audience. He was always so full of life and lived it to the full. May he now rest in peace knowing how much he was loved by all and our thoughts are with his family.
This Summer Shawbury Village Players will be Performing Round and Round the Garden by Alan Ayckbourn
Date: 2nd – 5th July 2014
Location: Acton Reynald Hall, Moreton Corbet, Nr Shrewbury SY4 4DX
Following the success of last years summer production of ‘Table Manners‘ and the spring’s ‘Living Together’, we are completing the final part of the trilogy of plays by Alan Ayckbourn known as ‘The Norman Conquests’. They each tell an account of what happened at a country house over one weekend of which ‘Round and Round the Garden‘ takes place in the garden. Reg and his wife Sarah arrive at the house to take over the care of his invalid mother, so that Annie, his sister, can go away for the weekend. Sarah thinks that Annie is meeting up with the local vet ,Tom, but it is in fact the local librarian, Norman, who had ideas about a wild weekend. Finally Ruth, Normans wife joins the party unexpectedly to cause more confusion.
Please note there is no requirement to have seen the previous two productions.
