Part of a trilogy of plays by Alan Ayckbourn known as ‘The Norman Conquests’. They each tell an account of what happened at a country house over one weekend of which ‘Table Manners’ takes place in the dining room. Reg and his wife Sarah arrive at the house to take over the care of his invalid mother, so that Annie, his sister can go away for the weekend. Sarah thinks that Annie is meeting up with the local vet ,Tom, but it is in fact the local librarian, Norman, who had ideas about a wild weekend. Finally Ruth, Normans wife joins the party unexpectedly to cause more confusion.
